CCMI Programs Awarded Grant Funding
Community Cooperative Ministries Inc. recently announced a partnership with Target in recognition of its efforts in fighting hunger in Southwest Florida. Target awarded CCMI a grant for $3,000 to supply food to the agency's Everyday Marketplaces.
Our Everyday Marketplace is a transformation from the traditional food pantry into a shopping market that provides community members a choice and a voice in emergency food. Customers choose their own food off the market shelves resulting in decreased food waste and an increased sense of empowerment and personal dignity. The markets include ready-to-eat meals, fresh produce, eggs and bread, recipes for healthy meals, and cooking demonstrations, items traditionally not found in food pantries.
This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that equals more than $3 million every week.
"At Target, our local grants are making a difference in the communities we serve," said Laysha Ward, president of community relations, Target. "We're proud to partner with CCMI as part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the communities where our guests and team members live and work."
"The Everyday Marketplace is just one of CCMI's 'front porch' services that decreases the stigma associated with standing in line for groceries, reduces up to 50 percent of waste associated with preselected grocery bag models, and better utilizes the agency's resources and funds," said Dr. Dave Fleming, chief of staff for CCMI.
The Claiborne and Ned Foulds Foundation Awards Grant
The Claiborne and Ned Foulds Foundation has awarded a $21,000 grant to Community Cooperative Ministries Inc. to help upgrade technology. We are very thankful for the efforts and contributions of the Foulds Foundation within our southwest Florida communities. This foundation has provided the means to assist countless individuals and families in need.
"We will be able to replace a number of very old computers and create a better IT infrastructure for our staff and team leaders," said Dr. Dave Fleming, CCMI's chief of staff."We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers with even greater effectiveness through this amazing grant."

The LCHC awarded CCMI with the 2011-2012 Client Identification Grant of $2,500 to assist persons who are homeless in obtaining birth certificates, driver's licenses, and/or state identifications. Without proper identification, an individual is not able to obtain employment or receive financial assistance and may be subject to arrest.
